Purposes of the Association
The Association has been organized to operate exclusively for charitable, educational, scientific and literary purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 (the “Code”), including, but not limited to, the following: to further the education of children and young people through the association and cooperation of independent schools, to encourage the exchange of information between member schools, to serve as a focal point for contact among member schools, to provide liaison among member schools and other institutions, to advance the mutual interests of member schools and to foster their diversity. In pursuant of these purposes, the Association, at its discretion, may invite the representatives of other institutions to participate in any of its activities, may exchange written or oral information and opinions with such other institutions, and may otherwise cooperate with such other institutions in any way not inconsistent with these Bylaws, the Association’s Articles of Incorporation or any relevant laws of the District of Columbia or the United States.
