Policies and Statements
AISGWs goal in maintaining policy statements is to advance member schools shared priorities, goals and public reputations while respecting schools independence. The process by which these documents were developed included many opportunities for individual school input and involvement. Each has been formally adopted by the AISGW Board of Trustees. Periodically, the principles and statements will be reviewed to ensure that member schools continue to find them helpful and not overly-intrusive.
These policies and statements fall into three categories - mandatory, advisory and recommended:
Mandatory Principles of Good Practice
Compliance with these principles are a requirement of membership in the Association. These principles focus on common concerns and issues where schools, as part of the local independent school community, can exert considerable influence on each other and where interschool cooperation is helpful to the public.
Advisory Statements
These statements are not mandatory although they represent the considered opinion of the Association regarding these important topics. They provide perspective and recommendations which we hope schools will consider when assessing their operations and practices.
Guidelines
The Board of Trustees have adopted the following guidelines to help define and direct AISGWs advocacy activities.
