Board Committees
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
The Executive Committee shall consist of the officers of the Board (President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer, and President-Elect or immediate Past President) and the Executive Director. The Committee:
- establishes and oversees the “Compensation and Evaluation” sub-committee, whose sole responsibility is to set the Executive Director’s compensation package and conditions of employment, carry out his/her annual evaluation, and oversee the employment contract
- acts on behalf of the Board at times when it is not possible for the Board to meet

D.C. LEGISLATIVE OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE
The D.C. Legislative Oversight Committee shall consist ordinarily of 3 Board members appointed by the President (one of whom shall be appointed to serve as chair) and at least 3 members appointed from the membership at large. The Committee assists the Executive Director in:
- oversight of D.C. legislative matters (local and federal)
- drafting of legislation
- testifying at hearings
- attending hearings, committee meetings and other relevant gatherings
- keeping the AISGW constituency informed of current legislative issues
- building relationships with other organizations, media and public officials that are needed to effectively represent the interests of Association member schools

FINANCE COMMITTEE
The Finance Committee, chaired by the Secretary/Treasurer, ordinarily shall include at least 2 other members from the AISGW Board and 2 members from the general membership. The committee:
- reviews the Association’s financial reports and annual audit
- recommends the appointment of an independent auditor
- reviews and recommends changes to the Association’s financial policies
- reviews the annual operating and capital needs
- proposes an annual budget to the Board at its monthly meeting preceding annual meeting

MEMBER SERVICES COMMITTEE
The Membership Services Committee shall consist of 3 Board members appointed by the President (one of whom is to serve as chair) and 3 other members appointed from the membership at large. The Committee:
- evaluates existing membership services
- identifies and recommends responses to current and emerging needs of member schools, including heads of school, other administrators, faculty, and boards of trustees
- may establish a task force to focus on responses to the needs of the above groups, as needed
- serves a liaison role with VAIS, AIMS, and other similar organizations to identify possibilities for collaboration in offering services to member schools
- may establish a sub-committee on publications to oversee the development of, and revisions to, an AISGW web site and printed materials
- reviews annually the statistical data collection done by AISGW to ensure its relevance to the membership and coordination with VAIS, AIMS, and NAIS statistical surveys

MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE
The Membership Committee shall consist ordinarily of 3 to 5 Board members, including the committee chair. Membership in the committee may be extended to 2 other heads of member schools who are not currently members of the Board. The Membership Committee, in collaboration with the Executive Director:
- ensures current member schools membership credentials are up to date
- reviews membership applications
- conducts evaluations of applicant schools
- reports to the Board of Trustees on pending applications
- researches potential new member schools
- ensures that heads of new member schools as well as new heads of existing member schools are assigned a mentor drawn from the AISGW membership

MONTGOMERY COUNTY GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS TASK FORCE
The Montgomery County Government Affairs Task Force shall consist of Board members and members appointed from the membership at large. The Committee assists the Executive Director in:
- oversight of Montgomery County legislative matters
- drafting of legislation
- testifying at hearings
- attending hearings, committee meetings and other relevant gatherings
- keeping the AISGW constituency informed of current legislative issues
- building the relationships with other organizations, media and public officials that are needed to effectively represent the interests of member schools,

TRUSTEE COMMITTEE
The Trustee Committee ordinarily shall consist of 3 members including the President-Elect and 2 former AISGW Board officers (3 in the year when there is no President-Elect), preferably one who is a former AISGW Board President. The Committee:
- is responsible for preparing a slate of officers and Board members
- orients new Board members to their roles and responsibilities as trustees
- provides ongoing mentoring to new AISGW Board members
- coordinates an annual self-evaluation of the Board
