The Kingsbury Center is proud to announce the hiring of the new Head of School, Dr. Dennis Campbell, for the 2017-18 academic year. Dr. Campbell is a passionate and goal-driven educational leader dedicated to transforming communities by building the capacity within schools and beyond to ensure that all children and youth are prepared for the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century.
Dr. Campbell graduated from Ryerson University with a BA in early childhood education, and from Tufts University with an MA in child development. He completed a Doctor of Education from the University of Pennsylvania. An accomplished educational leader with more than 20 years of experience managing, leading, implementing, and evaluating programs and practices in a diversity of educational contexts in public, private, and higher education, Dr. Campbell is poised to shepherd then Kingsbury community into the future. Dr. Campbell began his career in education as a teacher working with teen mothers and their pre-schoolers, and later taught elementary and middle school including a department head position at Sidwell Friends School in Washington, DC. Dr. Campbell is currently the Middle and High School Director of MUSE School in Los Angeles, California.
Dr. Campbell’s professional highlights are divided between California and Washington, DC, his adopted hometown, where he forged ties with key stakeholders in the education community. Dr. Campbell’s professional life in Washington, DC spans a decade and includes teaching at the School of Education at American University and directing key policy initiatives at the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools.
The Kingsbury Center looks forward to working together to assist Dr. Campbell in his transition to the position of CEO and Head of School.
In order to ensure a smooth transition, Dr. Campbell and Interim Head of School Dr. Charles Clark, will connect periodically over the next three months before Dr. Campbell officially begins his position on July 1, 2017.
