Setting tuition strategically, utilizing tuition discounting effectively, and assessing and articulating a school’s value are vital to every school’s success. Yet, all too often, tuition and financial aid budgets are set in a vacuum by the Board and Head of School, focusing solely on expected cost per student and what competitor schools are expected to do. As a result, schools underutilize data when setting tuition and follow a process that looks at short-term tuition possibilities without considering or even identifying a school’s optimal long-term enrollment size and pricing strategy.
