2025 Heads Retreat Headship in the Modern Era
This year’s Retreat, entitled Headship in the Modern Era, will provide an opportunity to reflect inward on how to sustain a thriving headship in today’s world and will also give us a chance to look outward to the external forces that affect the work of an independent school head. On Thursday, Kandi Wiens, author, senior fellow and director of the University of Pennsylvania’s Masters in Medical Education Program, will help us explore research and strategies for remaining vibrant while avoiding burnout. We’ll also hear from colleagues about specific models and practices that have energized their headships. On the second day of the retreat, we’ll examine some outside disruptors circulating around schools and school leadership in a session with business and policy thought-leader Bruce Mehlman, and we’ll close out our time together with journalist and clinical and professional school counselor Phyllis Fagell, who will help us focus on our most important constituency – our students.
In an effort to be responsive to the feedback AISGW receives each year, we continue to fine-tune the structure and format of the Retreat while retaining features that we know our heads count on during their time in Middleburg. One new highlight this year will be Thursday night’s dinner, which we’ll enjoy off site at a nearby Middleburg Winery.
Retreat attendees must make their own overnight hotel reservations at the resort. Click here for instructions on reserving a room under the AISGW reservation block. Please reserve your room by October 8th.
Although we are no longer offering a one-day registration option, if you find you can only join us for part of the conference, please reach out to Lynn Maloney ([email protected]).
A big thank you to our Retreat sponsors!
