A Workshop for Middle and High School Mathematics Teachers

Join the teachers of Georgetown Prep and Phillips Exeter Academy for a four-day introduction to a problem-centered approach for learning Algebra through Calculus.

Collaborating with fellow mathematics teachers, you will be immersed in a unique curriculum that will enrich your students’ experience with mathematics.

You will explore problems and labs that successfully develop these skills:

  • problem-solving
  • critical reading
  • careful listening
  • verbal and written communication
  • essential algebra and geometry

Engagement in these problems will encourage:

  • curiosity
  • self-reliance
  • mathematical understanding
  • collaboration

Phillips Exeter Academy Mathematics teachers will facilitate the daily workshops where you should be prepared to work on selected problems, to be challenged and motivated by your classmates, and to be ready to experience the type of learning environment that you hope to provide for your own students. To complete the experience, homework may be given.

Our work will be based on the problem sets used at Phillips Exeter Academy.
