National Cathedral School Hosts STEAM Learning Conference

Location: 3612 Woodley Road NW, Washington, DC 20016

April 22, 2018 – April 23, 2018

NCS is collaborating with the Lausanne Learning Institute to host an education conference. Both are pleased to announce the theme for the upcoming conference: Gaining STEAM. Please visit the conference website and share the information with your faculty and your professional networks. You may also follow on social media @LausanneLearn and use #LLIAtlantic to share. LLI grounds itself in its “by teachers, for teachers” model, which has instructors talking to colleagues about practices that work; lessons do not have to be highly tech-driven.

The conference will begin on Sunday afternoon, April 22, with a keynote presentation by award winning STEM/Maker educator, Kevin Jarrett, followed by two workshops and a social hour. On Monday, April 23 there will be four workshop sessions. Each “active learning” workshop will be 60 or 75 minutes in length with the goal of engaging teachers in discussions and hands-on activities that they can easily transfer to their classrooms. A few NCS presentations already in the works:

  • Appily We Sing Along (LS Music teacher)
  • Art & Design  (US Art teacher)
  • Coding in the Math Curriculum (US Math teacher)
  • Classroom Fun by Design  (Technology Integration Specialist)
  • Money, Money, Money (Associate Head/Head of Upper School)
  • The Art of Science Writing (Head of School)
