What does it look like when a school built to provide an excellent education to children from across Greater Washington lives its mission? And when that school cultivates each individual child’s capacity to feel, to wonder, to create, and to relate to others with empathy and kindness? The answer is Grace.
We are a small school of approximately 100 students. With over half of our student body composed of students of color, Grace reflects the rich diversity of our area. Like our founders in 1960, we believe that we are all better individuals when we are a part of a varied and inclusive whole.
Our focus is on the most important years of childhood: ages 3-11. We are committed to meeting children where they are and helping them to grow. Our wooded campus offers easy access to the outdoors, with time each day for nature exploration, PE, and recess. Music, art, library, and weekly chapel and assembly help to cultivate creativity and develop confidence, oracy, and performance skills. From Kindergarten and up, Spanish and technology round out a suite of twenty-first century skills, including access to our new student-designed Makerspace. Finally, as an Episcopal school, we are passionately committed to raising individuals who serve others, appreciate the wonder of our world, and feel connected to a larger whole.
Grace graduates have an impressive record of outplacement and success in middle and high school; but more importantly, they grow into nimble thinkers, confident individuals, and compassionate citizens.
