Thirty years ago, Peter Vaill, a well-known leadership author, coined the phrase permanent white water to describe the unrelenting uncertainty and disruption leaders must learn to navigate. Given the complexity of both the head of school and board chair’s roles over the last eighteen months, this metaphor has never been more relevant.

At this year’s Head’s Retreat, Anne-Marie Balzano, Senior Governance Strategist at Mission & Data, led our school leaders through a process of defining what a strong head-board partnership looks like and what heads need from their boards to sustain their leadership practice. Come to this interactive session to learn more from those discussions and how board chairs can support their heads through today's constantly changing conditions.

This program will include lunch. Masks must be worn indoors except while eating and drinking. Per AISGW’s policies, only fully vaccinated individuals may attend in-person events.
