Faculty Support and Retention
Part 2
with Ted Fish

This is the second of a two-part series designed for new and returning attendees. New attendees will be furnished with an article to read and an intake form to complete so they can hit the ground running during our time together. Returning attendees will also be provided with a form that will help them articulate and reflect on their next steps they identified in session one. We will use the responses from both groups to ensure that this upcoming session is highly customized.

The core of our first session may be summarized as follows: “A problem well-stated is half-solved.” In this session, we shifted from thinking about the problem of teacher attrition and retention to the thought challenge of identifying and crystallizing core action steps that can transform the attractive power and stickiness of our work environments. We pivoted from being pressurized by the job market to proactively designing enhancements to our systems.

In the second session, with the same rigorous, solutions-focused, practical, yet out-of-the-box mentality, we will continue the work by:

  • Helping each individual or team to clarify and refine the handful of key actions they will take over the next three years on teacher retention and support;
  • Guiding participants to drill down into the core of their school’s greatest resources to make sure that they are tapping that strength for this initiative;
  • Exploring some of the keys about how to conduct successful change campaigns, including tips to employ and traps to avoid.

Our intent is for each team or individual to leave with a clarity of focus, pragmatic next steps, and guiding principles to propel their schools forward in attracting, supporting, and retaining faculty. As those who attended the first workshop noted, having the opportunity to reflect on and discuss possible approaches in real-time with key members of your leadership team added richness to the learning experience.  With that said, please bring a colleague or two who can be a good thought partner on this issue!

Cost: $150 per School
