When and where does the Institute meet?

This year's Institute will be predominantly in-person. We will meet on the following Wednesdays from 4:00-6:00 p.m.: January 17th and 31st; February 14th; March 6th and 13th; April 10th and 24th; May 8th and 15thThese meetings will be hosted by members of the cohort and advisory faculty at AISGW schools located throughout the DMV, with an effort to ensure an equitable mix of D.C., Maryland, and Virginia locations. Please note that the first and last sessions will conclude with a social event in the form of dinner and/or a reception.

Who runs the Institute?

With the support of AISGW, the Institute is run by M.A. Mahoney, Dean of Academics and Student Success at the Madeira School, and Malcolm McCluskey, Head of Upper School at Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart. They’ll be joined by an experienced faculty advisory of leaders from St. Andrew's Episcopal School, Bullis, Sidwell Friends, and Flint Hill School, among others.

What are my responsibilities as a cohort member?

Participants are expected to attend all sessions (recognizing that unexpected emergencies may arise) and engage fully in the exploration of the syllabus topics. Each cohort member is expected to collaborate with one or two other members of the cohort to lead a curriculum unit chosen from the syllabus. Some cohort members may be asked to host the group at their school.

How much does the Institute cost?

The program fee is $675 for all nine sessions.

How do I register?

Each year, we have more registrations than space available. This year, rather than operating on a first-come, first-served basis, we are requesting supplemental information during the registration process. Based on the information received, we will endeavor to choose a well-rounded cohort consisting of eighteen aspiring leaders representing a range of schools and school roles. Registration and applications are due November 21st. We will notify you of your status by December 12th.
