The Case for Neutrality: What Boards and Heads Need to Know About Navigating Geopolitical Events and a Complicated Election Season
Tuesday, September 24th, 2024 4:30-7:00 p.m.
The Potomac School 1301 Potomac School Road McLean, Virginia
In today's complex world, the US Presidential election and other geopolitical events significantly impact our school communities. Independent school trustees and leadership administrators must balance the roles of running a business, building a community, and supporting a learning environment that encourages civility, curiosity, and respectful critical thinking. This workshop will explore how trustees and school leaders can navigate these challenges by fostering neutrality where appropriate and remaining true to the school's ethos and mission.
During this interactive session, independent school specialist Megan Mann will address common issues schools face during an election season, provide practical strategies and exercises for leadership teams, and clarify legal boundaries that can guide decision-making. Attendees are encouraged to engage in open discussions, ask questions, and embrace the ambiguity that often accompanies these topics. Refreshments will be provided.
Cost: $90 per person
This event is for AISGW members only.
A special thank you to RCM&D for sponsoring our 2024-2025 Trustees Series.
