Supporting Students, Staff and Self During This New School Year
Presented by the Wendt Center for Loss and Healing
As a new school year starts, uncertainty is high and questions abound. What will this year look like, how will students navigate a new learning format, how will the school meet their needs? Every student is grieving in some capacity, every staff/teacher is grieving in some capacity, and every school counselor is grieving in some capacity.
This 2-hour workshop will frame COVID as a grief experience, discuss the parallel process between staff and students, and provide realistic strategies for sustaining yourself and staff during the face of grief and trauma exposure. Small group interactions will help facilitate discussions around navigating the parallel process, specific supports needed to sustain the staff and school, and strategies for supporting students.
This session is for AISGW school counselors. The workshop will be led by the Wendt Center’s lead trainer, Melissa Sellevaag.
Cost: $45 per person, to be billed separately after the event.
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
