What does the Emerging Leaders Institute offer?

  •  Nine sessions around key areas of leadership including building trust, leading change, fostering belonging, developing faculty, and overseeing curriculum, among others

  • Opportunity to team with fellow cohort members to lead and facilitate one session

  •  Up-close exposure to insights, advice, and stories from a panel of veteran and committed current AISGW school leaders

  • Opportunity to identify leadership goals and action steps through a personalized Plan for Leadership

  • Introduction to other schools in the greater DC area

When and where does the Institute meet?

The Institute will meet via Zoom from 4:00-5:30 pm on the following Wednesdays:  January 13th, January 27th, February 10th, February 24th, March 10th, April 7th, April 21st, April 28th, and May 12th.

Who runs the Institute?

With the support of AISGW, the Institute is run by M.A. Mahoney, Dean of Faculty and Academics at the Madeira School, and Sheena Hall, Lower School Director at Flint Hill School.  They’ll be joined by experienced faculty advisor-leaders from Stone Ridge, Norwood, The Lab School, Edmund Burke School, Congressional School, Landon, and Langley, among others.

What are my responsibilities as a cohort member?

Each cohort member is expected to collaborate with one or two other members of the cohort to lead a curriculum unit chosen from the syllabus.  In addition, cohort members will be invited to create a short presentation about their school.  Participants should be able to commit to attending all sessions (recognizing that unexpected emergencies may arise) and to engaging fully in the exploration of the topics on the syllabus.

How much does the Institute cost?

The program fee is $340 which includes all nine sessions (this represents a 50 percent discount from previous years to account for the virtual format).
