It Takes a Village: Child Sexual Abuse Prevention

In this learning session, Darkness to Light’s director of social behavior change, Lia Gil, will discuss the 5 Steps to Protecting Children™ and ways Darkness to Light is changing organizational culture by addressing policies, systems, and environmental factors to create a culture of child protection for organizations that serve youth. While many of us grew up with warnings of “stranger danger,” the truth is most children who experience sexual abuse are victimized by someone they and their family know and trust. Darkness to Light’s mission is to empower adults to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse.

During this session participants will learn:

  • How to identify grooming and red flag behaviors
  • Ways to minimize opportunities for would-be offenders
  • Ways to increase child protection practices
  • How an organization can create a culture of child protection

  • This session is free for participants from AISGW, SAIS, and TAIS member schools.
  • The fee for non-member participants is $25 per person.
  • The Zoom link will be included in the reminder emails sent 24 hours and 2 hours prior to the start time.
  • The session will be recorded and a link will be emailed to all registrants within 24 hours.

This webinar is the first of a three-part series co-hosted by AISGW, SAIS, and TAIS. Additional webinars in this series will take place on October 21 and December 1.
